Hey there! I’m Paige. I’ve been exploring triathlon for about a year now. It’s time to share my story.
I started running in high school, primarily as a sprinter (100 M, and later 100 M hurdles). Wearing a cheap $20 pair of Asics from Kohl’s, I struggled with shin splints, and found myself constantly in the physical therapist’s office. I spent more time on the elliptical than I did on the track.
I ran on & off throughout my life, before finally committing to running during the pandemic. I broke out my Couch 2 5k app and followed it religiously. That is, until I developed a stress fracture (likely a result of my Accutane use).
Once recovered, I started running. I don’t recall exactly how I heard about triathlon, but I signed up for a local triathlon swim club and began fine-tuning my form.
Since my first race in 2022 (on a fixie, no less), I’ve completed 3 sprint triathlons, 1 IRONMAN 70.3, and a handful of practice events. I’ve completed 5 half marathons with a PR of 2:19. While I’m not an outstanding athlete by any means, my refusal to give up, even when things feel impossible, keeps me moving.
Come along with me on my journey while I continue delving into this (challenging) sport I’ve grown to love. While I don’t expect to land in first place any time soon, you can expect me to keep competing with my #1 rival: myself.
